In December of 2018 a friend approached the Black Sheep Restaurant with a proposal to turn their unused conference room into a gift shop. They were keen so she asked myself and two other friends to help. In February 2019, after painting walls, collecting and painting furniture, shelving and display screens, and locating local creatives willing to put their goods in the shop, we not only opened the gift shop but an exhibition space as well.
We wanted to give local artists and artisans a relaxed, friendly place they can exhibit and sell their work. Most are mums and retired folks who have been creating for years but had never had the confidence to share what they had made. The items they bring us are amazing and we are proud to say that everything at the gallery is loving handmade by our locals.
The Atrium Gallery is a not for profit enterprise and is run by volunteers. It is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for something special and I am very proud to be a part of it
